Each section view created using Civil 3D is defined by a sample line. The sample line is used to identify the location (and width) of the section view and the data displayed within it. Once created, section views maintain a dynamic link to their respective sample lines. For this reason, if a sample line is moved, its section view will update accordingly. The power of this dynamic link ensures that section views are always kept in-sync with the design model.
In today’s installment, we’ll take advantage of the link between sample lines and section views to help us navigate a design model. At the risk of destroying the ending of a 2 min. recording, Civil 3D's Rt-Click menu allows you to jump back and forth between each sample line and its respective view.
