Autodesk Vehicle Tracking provides multiple ways to analyze the vertical clearance of a vehicle path. One way is to drive a design vehicle along a Civil 3D profile. (We explored this workflow last week.) In today’s installment, we’ll look at another technique; driving a design vehicle on a Civil 3D surface.
By leveraging a surface model, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking makes it easy to analyze vertical clearance in 3D by comparing the entire swept path envelope to the proposed (or existing) terrain. After running the analysis, the application will create a Ground Conflict Report that colorizes areas where the vertical clearance approached (or penetrated) the ground. It will also display cross sectional information that includes “closest point” measurements.
If you are interested, I’ve created a quick video below that walks through the workflow to analyze vertical clearance using a Ground Conflict Report.
