When performing a swept path analysis using Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, the movement of a vehicle’s body and chassis are visualized using 2D “envelopes”. These envelopes are then reviewed to validate successful navigation, or identify areas of a site that are challenging for a design vehicle to access.
In addition to this “horizontal” analysis we should also ensure design vehicles have the appropriate vertical clearance to navigate a proposed site. Fortunately, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking provides multiple ways to analyze vehicle paths from a vertical perspective. In today’s installment, we’ll explore a workflow that validates vertical clearance by driving a design vehicle along a Civil 3D profile.
