Because sometimes you just need to know where you are. :)
When working on a model, Civil 3D (or any flavor of AutoCAD) the name of the model is conveniently displayed at the top in the title bar. Unfortunately, what is absent (likely due to space) is the path where the model is located. As a result, we cannot immediately identify where the model currently resides.
If you are like me, when in doubt or when you would just like to confirm that you are working off of a network drive, local drive, cloud location… you leverage another tool like “SaveAs” in an attempt to determine the model location.
Did you know that a command exists specifically for this? I didn’t either until I came across DWGPrefix. By typing DWGPrefix at the command line, Civil 3D will automatically display the Drive letter and folder information for your current model.
