Using Civil 3D, you can create a Surface Object from almost anything!
In today’s installment, we look at the CreateSurfaceFromGISData command. Using this tool, we can create a Civil 3D Surface object directly from an ArcSDE, Oracle or .SHP geospatial file. This is HUGE because the entire process can be accomplished in only a handful of clicks.
In the past, this could be accomplished using a number of “creative” workflows and involved a number of time consuming manual steps. Many of you likely remember them. I know I do because some things you just can’t forget. :)
Fortunately for us, they are no longer required if we utilize Civil 3D's CreateSurfaceFromGISData command.
