If you work with Points and Description Keys, today’s tool can be very handy. In short, when we insert Points into Civil 3D, Description Keys can automatically assign Point Styles to control how our Point Objects are displayed. (Why trees magically look different than fire hydrants :) )
The problem is that Description Keys are typically only processed at the time Points are inserted. Knowing this.... what happens when Description Keys are updated? What happens if the Points were inserted into a file that didn’t contain Description Keys? What happens when… insert your situation here… and the Description Keys were not applied at the time of Point insertion?
Do we have to “reinsert” the Points to use Description Keys? Are we now forced to apply styles to the existing Points manually?
Fortunately for us, the answer is No. If ever any of these situations occurs, we can quickly apply Description Keys to existing Civil 3D Point Objects using the APPLYDESCKEYS command.
Note: The command requires you to select the Point Objects first prior to executing.
