The longer we use AutoCAD based products, the more .DWGs we have to manage. (Same holds true for any software we use :) )
As our library of .DWGs grows, it can be challenging to quickly find the specific files we are looking for. In most cases, people organize their files into folders or craft File naming schemes to help. i.e. All of “this kind of file” are in that folder and file name begins with “X-“.
While this is a very effective way of organizing your data, wouldn’t it be nice if we could easily attach some additional information to the file to help us quickly locate it in the future? In other words, I need to find all of the .DWGs I have worked on in “Kane” county. Or, I need to find all of the .DWGs associated with the developer “Davidson”.
Unless Davidson or Kane is part of your file name and/or you remember exactly when you worked on them last and/or you remember exactly which project folders are associated with your desired criteria, they might be challenging to find.
Enter “Keywords”. Using Keywords, you can quickly and easily assign a property to your .DWG files that you can search for in the future.
Check out the video below to see how it works.
