I have used this before in an interesting application. We were working for a prison and they had a problem, people passing the prison 'yard' on an adjoining highway were taunting the prisoners. I created and eg/fg surface showing the existing terrain with a wall, and used the Zone of Influence tools to determine the amount of screening we could get with different wall heights. Fun application!
